Customer Buzz
I received this scanner as a gift, but had to return it because it was not up to snuff for scanning beautiful, crisp images for design-work purposes. The scanner is perhaps fine for general purposes, but I had to re-work every image individually in Photoshop in order to approximate the original images' color, clarity and saturation. Most of the images were quite pixelated, even when the original was extremely sharp. Additionally, their packaged software was highly convoluted and not as user friendly as I typically find Canon products. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this product.

I finally got it to work...so I thought...
I selected the type of image it is and where to save it...and set it to use the scan button on laptop screen...
and guess what I get??? No picture...nothing...
Tell, me is there something else I need to do here?
The item was cheap and I didn't plan to pay for it with all this STRESS

I bought this product from another source, becasue the paperwork in this place annoys me... It works and for less then the cost of a massage at an Asian Massage Parlor, I'd say that's pretty good... It's not like the sort of toy you'd use for business or heavy use though, just like you wouldn't marry a hooker, but she's there when you need her...

This scanner is exactly what I was looking for and more. The image quality and ease of use is great. My life is so much easier and simplifed now.
The seller shipped it me with a few days!! Very excited with the excellent service. Thank you.

much better than my old scanner lide 50, it's faster and produce good scan images, software is a bit harder than that of the lide 50, very satisfy with the purchase, will buy from canon again.

I like having the scanner powered by USB instead of a power brick. I also like the small size. I can stash it in a cubbyhole on my desk. I like the instant warmup.

Unforunately the bundled OCR software stinks, particularly for foreign languages. My previous scanner (HP 3750c) even did an excellent job in Russian. Usually just one or two errors per page. The error rate on this one runs around 10%, which makes it nearly useless. When I contacted customer support, they said it was free software and I should go buy something better. Great, so this $60 scanner is really a $200 scanner in disguise!

One of the scanner's best features is that the USB cable also powers the scanner. I also love that the scanner light is on ONLY while scanning, and it scans incredibly quietly.

That said.. the software that came with it, ArcSoft's Studio 5.5 is not the latest version, which at the time of this writing is version 6, which is $29.95 for upgrade.

The software installation directions are also incorrect so I simply clicked onthe CD's "install.exe" icon to install it.

ArcSoft's so-called Technical Support told me that the SCANNER decides where to save your files, and that there is no way for me to tell it where I want to save all newly-scanned files, say, to my desktop.

the "rotate" picture function does so only in whole numbers. Thus, you can't make a picture totally straight. You can only, for example, tell it 358 degrees; not 358.7, and yes, that does make a big difference to those who take pride in their work.

Canon stupidly decided to partner with ArcSoft, which ruins the image of an otherwise excellent scanner, which scans in great detail.

So, buy the scanner.. but toss the software it's bundled with. It resembles $5 software that comes with a child's toy computer.

I have had different scanners over the years, prior to this was an HP. The HP is a workhorse, but slow and not as sharp as it could be. My new Canon LiDE100 scanner is an excellent step up. The scan quality is superior, and faster. The footprint of this scanner is so small that it can fit into my laptop case. It's powered from the USB cable, so no need to lug a heavy transformer.

The software features make it easy to use. But, one of the coolest things about this scanner is that I can lay multiple images on the bed, scan them, and the software will make individual files for each photo on the bed! How cool is that? I use this scanner mostly for for old family photos. It saves a LOT of time being able to scan several photos at once.

This scanner / software does not do film or slides, but it does an excellent job of photos, and storing images of important documents.

Scanner works well with Vista. Powered by USB rather than brick is a great feature.

Went from Windows XP Pro to Vista Ultimate x64. Existing scanner which I loved did not provide 64 drivers. While this one is priced right and does what I need it to do, it is loud and slow and not as user friendly.
Like I said for the price it is fine, especially since I don't use it that often.
