This printer is quick and the quality is good. The price was reasonable for home use. I haven't had to purchase toner cartridges yet so I can't compare prices. I would recommend this printer to anyone who does a lot (not office quantity) of printing. I haven't printed pictures, but just copy is great.


Easy installation. Rather heavy and bulky for home/office. Does a nice job of printing in color/black. Toner will not print as suggested by HP, so be ready to spend some big money if you do much printing.

Outside of the high operation costs I am quite satisfied with this printer.

I have only owned this printer a short time, but it feels solid and is everything I expect from hp. The printing looks fantastic in color and B&W. It is a little slow and the toner cartridges are small, but it is more than fast enough for my home office and has a very small foot print. All and all for just over $300 I am very impressed. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone for the home use.


Excellent Value on an excellent printer! I needed color copies for my product sales and the copies I printed off my website looked as good, or better, than the originals! Would have no qualms about recommending this printer!


Pros: Decent speed, nice user interface, nice media handling.
Cons: Toner very hard to find. Very expensive, recycled cartridges not availablle outside of UK. High yield cartrides not available.
Summary: Bought early on expecting other toner sources to appear in the market to move the HP colorspere cartridge price points down due to competition and to have the abillity to be green friendly through recycled cartidges. This market has not appeared. Take the yield numbers with a grain of salt. Most people use color where color is important and for laser color the density per page is greater than the numbers used in cartridge ratings. This means you are likely using black and white for drafts and text documents. But if you are using color for a Powerpoint slide the numbers of pages per cartridge will likely drop per your own higher usage rate of color for those pages. So don't plan on the cartridge yield number being accurate for your own situation. As with cars and cartridges your mileage may vary. A complete cartridge reload costs more that the street price of the printer.



Normally HP printers are quality products, but this one is a dud in my opinion. The first one I received made the same screeching noises other reviewers have reported and then printed only solid black pages. I requested a replacement from Amazon.com and they sent one over night. The second printer had the same problems as the first, so I've asked for a refund. Getting two printers with the exact same defect points to some design and quality control issues from HP.


This has been the best experience setting up this printer. Had it up and running in minutes.


Received my first printer and installed it great on my home computer. Turned on the printer and it made a loud noise for about 5 minutes while initializing. Printed the test page and it came out solid blue and with black text. I opened the printer and the Cyan toner was cracked and leaked toner all over the inside of the printer. It would put cyan toner on the back of the page too. Got a replacement one from Amazon and the second one did the same thing with the initialize stage and I printed a page and it came out green. Opened the printer and this time the Yellow along with the Cyan where leaking toner everywhere. This was the first time I have had any problems with HP. I guess you get what you pay for in a cheap color laser jet.


I purchased this to replace a lower quality color HP printer that was not Mac compatible. This one has been working excellent. I use it in a Mac Parallels XP/OSX Leopard environment and it works great for both operating systems.

It works just like you would think a printer would. It is a little loud though.


Perhaps HP has had a bad run of late, but our first printer worked for 2 weeks before it started jamming. The replacement worked for 2 days before it started jamming. We opted to not try a third and went with another manufacturer, I would say avoid this printer until they iron out their feeding issues.


Solid, comfortable printer - nice "office" feel. Load up the drivers and away you go - at least with Mac - and through Airport. Other reviews make a fair point about being a bit noisy - I have it sitting on a fairly hollow wooden cupboard which may accentuate this issue. However for usual home printing regime I can't see this being a big issue for most.


This printer is replacing an older version of a HP Laserjet printer. I wanted a small footprint, since I am limited for space. It is all that other reviews have indicated. It is fast, easy to set-up and install.
The only reason I give it 4 stars is that it is noisy for my home office, and I can only get 2500 page toner cartridges not 3500 page cartridges.
I can live with the noise if I get the great results in useability. I do recommend this printer.


Longetivity is always valued in a printer. So it's a little hard to rate this printer when it's brand new. But at least at the cost, if it only makes it 2-3 years (seems to be the industry standard), at least it's not a total loss. But the machine installed easily, and prints well. The only weekness I immediately noticed is the paper tray - namely, some very thin plastic parts. As someone who is frequently opening and closing the paper tray to achieve double-sided copies, I hope there will be no breakages. But again, I think most printers today are going to have flimsy paper trays.


I purchased this printer to function as a second printer when color is not required.

Set up is easy and went smoothly. Printing is fast, and quality very good to excellent. If you need a fairly low cost laser printer, this is a good one. I recommend it.

You can't go wrong buying HP parts for your HP printers. They install the way they are supposed to install, they work the way they are supposed to work, and you get the yield you are supposed to get. The only down side is price. They tend to be a little bit more expensive. If you can find a good deal on them, it's not so bad. I have to replace these about once a year, which isn't bad considering the printer we buy them for is the main fax machine for the office. Good product.


HP wanted way more money and Amazon had a better price for the same products that was brand new ! why waste money?


Needed a drum, got on line, before i knew it, it was on my doorstep!

I really saved money buying this from Amazon. It was far more expensive at the usual computer sources and arrived very quickly! From now on, the minute the "low" light comes on for my printer, I will order the supplies I need from Amazon.
