Pentel P1035A Pentel Sharp Kerry Mechanical Pencil, 0.50 mm, Metallic Black Barrel, 1 Unit

Product Description

Sharp Kerry Mechanical Pencil

Customer Buzz
This is one mechanical pencil I should have bought earlier. It is absolutely comfortable, it has a durable steel casing, it conserves pencil leads and most of all is beautiful. It has a durable touch to it.
Very good for mathimatical calculations, sketches and plain writing as well. I choose this pencil over the hundreds I have had so far.

I agree with the other reviews that the mechanism for advancing and holding the lead works very well, and the pencil is attractive to the eye. I do find it a little inconvenient that you have to remove a little "hat" to use the eraser. In that sense, some of the less expensive pencils are simpler.

The Pentel P1035A is well solid, elegant, and fine crafted writing instrument under twenty buck! The pencil comes in four different color: black, blue, pink, and red. I have the black, pink, and red. The pink color didn't seem to have a very good paint job, it had shade of creamy white producing a nonhomogeneous pink texture (made it looks cheap). This wasn't a problem with the black and red. The cap could loosen after frequent recapping. If you're buying more than one unit with different colors in mind, a search could save you money.

I owned one of these in the mid 80's, one of my friends "borrowed" it and "forgot" to return it. Recently I met my buddy and he pulled out this pencil that looked exactly like mine- he confessed and returned it. He had carried it since he "borrowed" it and felt guilty enough to return it.

The design has not changed since my first purchase in 1985 (I think that's when I bought the first). It is still perfect. The grip/writing end of the pen is a bit thin by today's grippy/thick pencil standards but it is not bad. If used daily the cap snap-tension rings will loosen a bit and eventually wear out. It will wear out after a few years of use, so buy a spare. Do not loan it to anyone.

Customer Buzz
The Sharp Kerry is the finest mechanical pencil I have owned to date. I use it every day for work as a project manager, I oversee bids, budgets and construction for large commercial projects.
The Share Kerry is the best I have found for every day use on plans, estimates and financial reporting. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one on Amazon as the price is the lowest around.
My only complaint if you can call it that is the pencil needs a better eraser, one that does not move while you use it - I do use a separate eraser for making changes.

I work in engineering and live by these things. There was another model I used and that I loved - but they're not made anymore. I searched long and hard to find a replacement that works reliably and without jamming, and this model is it. My lastest order was for three of them - so I can have spares if I lose my primary one.
