Customer Buzz
Philips/Dect...think it would be the best/newest portable phone system. Wrong ..it it the worst. Lousy handsets..no volume control. Even the base units volume adjustment is poor. Don't waste your money or time. I should have listened to the neg postings that I read prior to purchasing the system. Anyone want this unit??? You can have it.

Customer Buzz
This phone looks good - but that is where the positive feedback ends. The sound quality was horrible, the buttons would not function, the ringers were very unprofessional. This phone was quickly returned.

Customer Buzz
I read many interviews to find the best 2-line DECT on the market. I looked at this SE659 for months and bought it with a second handset a few months after it came available. After three weeks of continuous use I found it nearly unusable because of a confusing and poorly engineered user interface. My rule of thumb is that if my team can't use the phones and communicate it is a loss to our business.

I love European engineering and like the quality of build with the phones. The sound was generally excellent with reception beyond the range of my current 5.8MHz Panasonic 2-Line set. I had the occasional static after inserting a Plantronics headset but it quieted down after a minute or two.

I liked the common phonebook and the ability to setup two remote voice mail services for `message waiting' indicators. It worked with Vonage and TMobile VOIP. I liked the OLED color screens.

Here's where it falls down: Time after time I would see team members try to answer a phone call and they would press the most obvious button, only to get a dial tone which they couldn't close as the other call went to voice mail. This happened to many people of reasonable intelligence.

Another mis-engineered `feature' occurs once a message is on voice mail. The handset appears to give no other choice than to call voice mail with no obvious means to exit the menu for other functions. Perhaps there is an argument that I'm used to my current handset but I really wanted this to work. I read the manual and learned the idiosyncrasies but found myself as frustrated as the rest of our team after a couple weeks.

I don't like to turn new stock into returns. The scratchy headset connection was cause for RMA-but the real problem here is a counter-intuitive user interface. It may feel nice in the hand...but the proof of the pudding is still in the eating.

Customer Buzz
I'd been waiting for a good phone replacement system for over a year that had the capability of 2 lines & had DECT 6.0 technology. I'd read just about everyone's reviews on this system & the majority of people thought it had excellent sound quality since it was made by "Phillips".

Pros:
It is small & compact on a desk-doesn't take up too much room.
Easy to understand system set up & programability.
You have the ability to add more handsets at a later date.
It's great to be able to pick up messages from any handset.
And it's great for a "2 office" home where 2 separate lines are used all the time.

Cons:
It's pricey for how it's made. It's not the best quality phone. Other systems I've had with similar keypad material-the rubber keypad numbers eventually wear off with use. The most important item that I researched & also what helped me to make a decision to purchase this was everyone's opinion that the "sound quality" was excellent. The answering machine recordings as well as talking to someone on the phone sounds like you are either in an echo chamber or under water. You have to listen to the recording several times to catch what people are saying. And I don't need a hearing aid! This was very disappointing. Philips needs to go back to the drawing board & redesign a few things like installing higher quality speakers & keypads! I hope that this helps you in your decision process.

Customer Buzz
I'm impressed, unlike some reviewers my experience to date with this system has been exactly what I wanted and needed. I ordered this unit with two additional handsets to replace an older Panasonic 5.8Ghz two line system. Like other reviewers I found the features and specs exactly what I was looking for. To date the performance of the base and the handsets has been outstanding. For my home/office use I wanted a handset on the base and not a corded phone on the base as seems to be the case on many two line phone systems currently available.

Installation and setup was incredibly easy with auto handset registration. Note that handsets should be charge for 24 hours before normal use. However the batteries that come with the system will power on the handset immediately after insertion and begin to search for the base so you may want to plug in the base first before activating the handsets. The handsets will be assigned a consecutive number for easy identification but this can be easily changed later.

The clarity with DECT 6.0 is excellent. The equipment both handsets and base not only appeal with their aesthetics but both are light weight and do not consume excessive space like older multi handset and base units. I am not using the wall mount so I cannot comment on its usefulness.

The speaker function on the handsets is impressive, loud and clear which helps my wife who has sever hearing damage. The base speaker is also good. I have not had any issues with dialing or the keypad keys on the base as some reviewers complained about. The LCD readouts on both the handsets and base make sense and are easy to read and use. The color background is an appealing novelty but not of any real benefit. It is easy to make snap judgments about the quality of signals but I have found this is often dependent on the calling or receiving parties line or phone, especially cell phones. Having tested and knowing what the line or reception quality was at the other end of a given call I was able to see really how well this system and these handsets work. Excellent in my experience.

There are a lot of great features and I'm sure from reading other reviews that some folks are not aware that they can do things they think the system doesn't allow. I guess we all hate to read manuals but this system is easy enough that my wife has worked most of it out without reading anything at all because she really hates manuals.

The handsets use rechargeable AAA batteries which is a huge plus over those outrageously expensive proprietary batteries of older systems. Everybody has different needs, use their systems in different was and will have different opinions. Still I recommend that if you currently have a home/office two line phone system requirement then the Philips SE6591B/17 base and SE6590 handsets are worth evaluating against any other two line options available to see if they suit your needs as they have mine.

On my wish list is wireless for using a Bluetooth headset with the system.

Customer Buzz
I can't say I'm terribly impressed. The phone lacks quality of design, both in hardware and software. The software is unintuitive and reminds me of something written in 1995. The hardware is uninspired and doesn't confirm well to the hand and ear. Call quality is acceptable, but nothing spectacular. Nothing thrilling here; just another boring phone.

Customer Buzz
I was very disappointed with this product, and I had to return it (and I hardly ever return ANYTHING). I was looking for a 2-line phone that could handle 6 extensions, has an answering machine, and was a Dect 6.0 that wouldn't interfere with my wireless computer network -- my 900 MHz phone near my computer crackles like crazy so I have to go into another room to use it! This system fit the bill for me, and I thought the color display was cool. Problem is that the color display is next to useless because all you can do is choose from 3 pictures for your background, and when you make or answer a call, it goes to a gray screen. So much for the cool color screen. There was a big problem with the quality, too. The phone crackled, and the answering machine crackled (like a bad speaker). Thought this was supposed to be a super high-def speaker?! Nope. Not clear AT ALL. The biggest problem for me, though, was that this phone DOESN'T HAVE AUTO-ANSWER! That means you HAVE to press a button to answer a call -- you can't just pick up the phone to answer it. For someone that is used to just picking up the phone to answer it, this means that I will get a loud, ringing phone in my ear until I remember to press the stupid button. While there is USUALLY an auto-answer option you can choose via the menu on most phone systems, there isn't that option on this phone. Strange, considering that there IS an auto-HANGUP option (where you can hang up the phone and not press a button to disconnect the call). Auto-answer just seems very basic to me, and would especially be annoying for my husband, who has bad vision and wouldn't want to search for that little button every time he answers a call.

For those reasons, I decided to return this system and look for something else.

Customer Buzz
I've been waiting for a 2-line DECT phone to hit the market and this one had all of the features that I wanted with the possible exception of a Bluetooth interface.

Likes:

- There are discreet keys for speaker and mute on both the desk unit and the handset. This is much better than trying to get to these features through soft keys.

- The voice quality and handset range is excellent. The DECT technology did not interfere with any wireless network devices and there was no interference whatsoever heard on the phone.

- The speaker phone and microphone quality were very good, although the speaker phone volume is a bit weak and needs to be operated at the maximum volume level to be useful.

- Having both the deskset and handset keypads is very convenient.

- The lit key surrounds are nice.

Dislikes:

- Not having seen one in person, I was a little surprised at the size of the unit. This is a very compact and lightweight unit with a smallish display and tiny screen text fonts.

- The buttons are made of a soft material but have smooth slippery surfaces that aren't as pleasant to use as most rubber-type keypads.

- The setup functions are rather clumsy in their execution, but otherwise get the job done.

Deal Breakers (for me at least):

- On the deskset keypad, there is an annoying delay from when you press the key to when the number is accepted by the phone. For me, this often resulted in dropped number entries and miss-dials.

- The keypad feel on the handset is OK, but the keys on the deskset felt cheap to me. My particular unit had two bad keys that you had to hit very hard just to get them to register an entry, but even the other keys had no tactile feel, which just compounded the delay problem. You can set a tone to sound when you hit a key, but the phone also plays a tone when accepting the number, so you have multiple tones per keystroke - very odd.

- When a line is in use from another phone in the house, it doesn't light up the line so that you know it's in use.

I've been waiting for this phone to become available since it was first introduced at the CES show back in January and really wanted to like this product, but unfortunately just couldn't live with all of it's shortcomings and returned it. Hopefully some other manufacturers will start introducing 2-line DECT phones soon, as the underlying technology appears to be excellent. My opinion is that Philips missed the mark on this early entry.

Customer Buzz
I found this to be a quality product.
1) Sound quality is very good, especially with the XHD Sound feature enabled.
2) Sound volume is exceptional, especially on the handset.
3) Displays could be a little larger.
4) Response time on the base dial pad is a little slow, but not awful.
5) Response time on the handset dial pad is ok.
6) Range is good.
7) Every button on the handset lights up and the buttons have a good feel to them.

Something else I noticed that I like about this phone is that there is only one caller ID log and only one phone book. They are in the base only. The chordless handsets have access to the log and phone book on the base. This makes it easy to maintain the phone book and caller ID log since there is only one of each.

I just discovered two other features of this phone that I like.
If you subscribe to Caller ID and you receive a call from a number that you have in your phone book, the display will show the name from the phone book rather than the name from the incoming Caller ID.
Also, if you subscribe to Caller ID, the date and time are automatically updated from the Caller ID information.

If I could, I would change the rating to 5 stars.

Customer Buzz
This sound quality was fine, but the menus were bad and the response time on the dial pad was dreadful. I had to dial numbers over again as I would dial too fast for it. I returned it.

Panasonic Dect 6.0 Series 4 Handset Cordless Phone System with Answering System (KX-TG1034S)

Product Description

panasonic introduces the latest in innovative solutions with its new line of low interference DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Communications) 6.0 cordless telephones systems. The major benefits of this new line of DECT phones include up to 17 hours of talk time, substantial handset expandability, and markedly reduced interference. What are the benefits of panasonic DECT 6.0 Phones?Engineered to work in the 1.9 GHz frequency range, these phones will not conflict with other wireless devices such as 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi computer routers, wireless keyboards and mousse, microwave ovens, and other common household devices. And because it's digital, DECT 6.0 technology also provides long ranges, excellent clarity, and helps deter eavesdropping. Multiple voice paths are used to enable the entire series to provide up to 3-way conferencing, this allows for multiple handsets to be used at the same time and up to 2 handsets can join into a conversation with one outside caller. They also provide for Intercom between handsets and Phonebook Sharing. Additionally, these systems are extremely comfortable and easy to use, with the handsets featuring large keypads buttons that are almost twice the size of standard phone keypad buttons, and are designed top fit comfortably in both your hand as well as cradled on your neck. all models in the DECT 6.0 line include a base station-integrated digital answering machine with voice menu, digital handset speakerphones, handsets with a clock on the LCD with alarm function, three-line backlit LCD, and incoming call indicator lights.

Customer Buzz
Here's my opinion about this product:
1. Clear sound.
2. Light weight but the battery lasts hours of talking.
3. Easy to use and program.
4. Convenient and powerful speaker phone feature as well as the intercom.
5. Reasonable price.
6. Last for years.

You never regret when buying this phone, and perhaps come back and buy it again years later.

Customer Buzz
After purchasing cheap phones for many years with abundant disappointments, I spent more on this purchase than in the past and the product has exceeded my expectations. No interference on handsets. Longer reach out into the yard without degredation of the signal. Having four handsets means no more searching all over the house (esp. when they are left without battery. Larger number pad for ease of use. Hold their charge longer. I really like it.

Customer Buzz
My old Panasonic phone system would keep the calls on other handsets when I deleted calls on the one being used. This system deletes calls on all the other handsets and the same goes for the Phone book. I tried to deregister the handset but the system will not allow you to do that even though the instruction booklet says you can. The system cannot be used in a family enviornment. Everyone can see the calls until a handset deletes a call and then the call is gone for everyone. Same with the Phone book.
Very disapointed.

Customer Buzz
I'm on a lot of conference calls and the 3 most important features for me are a) Long Battery life, b) Mute and c) Speakerphone functionality. I have had other cordless phones before, but this none met these basic features well. But this phone is exceptional; the battery life is awesome and I don't need to keep switching phones repeatedly. The sound quality is very good as well. The only thing I wish this had was the ability to name the phones, so I don't have to remember which phone # belongs to which room.

Customer Buzz
This is a very good product, the only issue is that the phonebook feature has to be programmed from each handset, it does not update from one handset.

Customer Buzz
The Panasonic Dect 6.0 Series 4 Cordless Phone System is overpriced and under performing compared to other cordless phone systems. The keypad is unlighted, the screen reads "missed calls" constantly, even though it should read "calls received" or some other name that imples the phone has actually received calls, not that the user has missed calls. It is difficult to find the call list on the phone so one can find out who exactly a missed call is. It is difficult to clear out the "missed calls" list and has to be done independently on each handset. The answering machine only indicates that a call has come in, not how many calls have been received.

The cost of this system is way overpriced. This system is actually worth about $50 and Panasonic adding "Dect 6.0" to the name seems to be their only justification to raise the price of the product without giving positive and comparable things for a consumer to be happy about. I believe they call this price-gouging! Panasonic gets 1/2 star for this product due to the price vs. amenities it should include for the price.

On the positive side, the seller was wonderful. The phone system arrived wholly intact, in a timely manner, and as advertised.
I'd give them 5 ***** for their abilities.

Customer Buzz
Phones work great. Love being able to put a phone where I do not have a phone jack.

Customer Buzz
I've been using these phones for a month or so, and have been very satisfied with them. We purchase phone service through our cable company and the phones work well with the voice mail system, so we don't use the answering machine on the base unit. The voice quality is good and each phone can be used as a speakerphone, also of good quality (callers also do not complain about the quality of our speech when we use the speakerphones). Numbers recorded in the phonebook of any given handset can be easily transmitted to other handset to ensure common access to all numbers. The only minor complaint is that the handsets not used to answer a call will show the message "Missed Call" following incoming calls; however, these are easily cleared.

Customer Buzz
These telephones worked right out of the box. They require only one connection at the base station; the rest can be spread around the house. However, not too far. One room in our house cannot get consistent signal, but that is not a major hurdle.

Please note the quality control on the phones is not good; one phone didn't work and had to be replaced. I'm not surprised, I guess, because Panasonic no longer makes its products in Japan, but China. You get what the company pays for.

Customer Buzz
The handsets are lightweight and the menus take some getting used to. Range is good, clarity is great, price fantastic. The only con is that the keys don't light up at night. Unless you make a lot of phone calls in the dark, you can live with that.

Customer Buzz
I have not been pleased with this scale. First, it doesn't seem to be able to set on a weight i.e., if I put gun powder on it three times I will get three readings. Also, it shuts off in less than thirty seconds, even though the literature says it should be one minute. Spend a little more and get a good scale.

Customer Buzz
DBRoth provides the one piece chrome calibration weight as pictured, in a plastic carrying case. I saw in reviews of other vendors that the 100g weight provided was inferior and in one case, missing a screw-on handle (!). The scale is very nice for a variety of uses where precision is required, and the sensitivity to measure grains at this price is an outstanding value. Readout is bright and and calibration is pass/fail, a nice feature imo.

Customer Buzz
I bought this precision scale and calibration weight set specifically so that I could tell whether a clear round brilliant cut gemstone that I have was a real diamond or a synthetic diamond. I measured the diameter and depth of the stone with a caliper and then used a mathematical formula to determine what the gem SHOULD weigh if it were a diamond perfectly cut, which was a little over 1.97 carats. Then I used the scale to weigh the stone. It weighed 3.4 carats, meaning that it's cubic zirconia, which has a specific gravity much higher than that of a diamond.
Oh well, at least I know for sure, instead of having to trust a jeweler to tell me the truth about it.

By the way, this scale is quite small and light, can use several different units of measure, and arrived with batteries installed and ready for the calibration to be tested and the scale to be used.

Speck Products MB13AU-SEE-CLR 13-Inch Aluminum Unibody/Black Keyboard See Thru Case for MacBook (Clear)

Product Description

Add a splash of color to your MacBook Pro (new unibody/black keyboard) with speck's SeeThru hard shell cases! Available in a variety of colors, our road-tested, translucent cases protect your notebook from scrapes and scratches and stand out vibrantly in a sea of same-ness. Device-specific engineering makes for a custom fit and highlights the sleek look of your new MacBook Pro. Built-in rubberized feet keep your notebook secure. Includes cleaning cloth.

Customer Buzz
I tolerate my speck case. It doesn't quite fit so it lets a good deal of dust and debris in under the plastic which results in forced frequent cleaning else I suffer scratches. (Didn't I get the shell to help prevent scratches?!) It's so loose that one of the clips (the one near the power button) doesn't even stay on the majority of the time meaning that much more gap-page. Now granted for under $40 it's not as bad as it could be, but I still feel that I paid hard earned money for a product that was specifically designed for my machine. It should fit!!
My advice: buy this one to tide you over 'til Techshell makes a unibody case. I had that for my black macbook = LOVE. ::sigh::

Customer Buzz
I love this case. It was easy on and not as easy off but still not a huge struggle. It keeps my MacBook clean and it looks fabulous in Aqua. I agree with the reviewer that said they didn't like the speck logo being so prominent- it does take away from the clean Mac look I love. A plus for me is that the rubberized feet help to keep it from sliding around on my slippery desk. A warning- you should definitely take the case off and clean your Mac periodically because dust tends to get inside it sometimes and could eventually rub and end up scratching your Mac. All in all I love how it looks, the weight and how it protects my Mac.

Customer Buzz
I've had this laptop case now for almost a month and I love it! It does exactly what it's supposed to and is easy to put on and off. I definitely recommend it!

Customer Buzz
This case is very nice, but not only does it look a bit fragile, but please keep in mind that this is for the new macbook. I have the model from about a year ago and ordered this case, and it doesn't fit at all. Don't make the same mistake and make sure you have a compatible computer.

Customer Buzz
This company has come out with a true well-fitting cover for the new aluminum MacBook. Simply snaps in place leaving all the ports open for connecting cameras, ipods, external hard drives, headphones, etc. Well done!

Customer Buzz
This see-thru case is the perfect protection for a macbook. I was always very careful not to 'slide' my laptop onto my desk or other tables because I was afraid it would get scratched. I didn't want to get a case like this one because I thought it wouldn't be a perfect fit, and it would make the computer bulky and look ugly, not to mention I thought it was a bit overpriced.

I found a coupon for this product that provided me with enough of a discount to consider getting it, and I'm extremely happy with it. It is a PERFECT fit for my unibody macbook and being the 'clear' version, I can barely tell it's there. It does not make the laptop bulky at all, in fact I have one of those sleeves where the laptop fit quite snuggly, and having this case on is no problem at all.

I would definitely recommend this product, and after using it I do not think it's overpriced, it's definitely worth the money to protect your investment and keep resell value high.

Customer Buzz
Well the case is pretty cool how it slips on with ease. I do have to take it off and clean it to remove dust that falls into the tiny gaps, as it causes abrasions to the plastic case (no bid deal) and to the laptop (yikes!).

Customer Buzz
This little pink case makes me smile every time I open my MacBook. Fits great and looks good too :)

Customer Buzz
This product is a perfect fit for a Mac 13 inch just like a custom fit made to order. It's a great experience to buy at Amazon were the products are all fully inspected before they sell it even it's a used one. I 100% recommend this product to all who owned Mac 13.

Customer Buzz
I ordered the clear case and I felt it was easy to put on. I watched a quick video on the speck.com site. I like how it seems almost not there at all. Nice product and I'm sure will help protect my machine.

The only drawback: I was nervous when I picked up the box from the mail locker. I could feel it was loose on the inside. After I opened, luckily I found it undamaged, but it was very loosely packaged with little bubble wrap.
