I've had this product for a month, and am mostly happy with it except:
The majority of transfers have a light patch in the center of the image.
The editing program is unable to fix the strong glare that occurs if
the image has a light reflection, or contains a white image. Finally,
much fine detail is missing on most images,which the editor does not
resolve. I am otherwise pretty satisfied, although I would not recommend
this product to anyone.


I was looking for this kind of product for many time and my dreams come true with this ION product, I have a lot of film to transfer and start to enjoy and remember every picture I was dicover every time I used.


It does what it is advertised to do: get a quality digital picture of old B&W negatives and color slides. Sure, it is labor intensive... but the quality is excellent and the price is right! I recommend!


Perfect for what I needed. Needed to download a driver from the site that wasn't in the package (CD or otherwise), but the quality and speed wsa better than I expected.


I was glad to be able to transfer slides to my computer - some slides transfered easily while others took repeated attempts- some times you have to wait maybe 30 seconds to get a clear picture other times you really need a second person to put the slide thru while you click on it to keep it from becoming over exposed. Other good slides lost details like having no faces. There did not appear to be a reason why they did not scan. I would say that I had about a 50% success rate at getting a reasonable picture, but most weren't the quality of photo processing and then retouching with computer software



The product works very well now, but had difficulties at first. Finally downloaded an updated driver and it works fine. The photo editing software is also quite good. I've converted close to 3000 slides and negatives and it is still working.


I purchased the Ion Slides 2 Pc to digitize a large family collection of slides from over the years. For its small cost, I thought I could save a lot by doing it myself and not sending it to a lab to do it professionally. Once you install the software (scanner driver, and Photo Impression 6), you reboot and then start up Impression 6. Click on "get Photos" and the quick scanner calibration starts. Now its time to scan. The program gives a live view what the scanner sees so you can align everything up(the trays click into place for each slide, but it is just to make sure everything is aligned), and then you can take a "snapshot" (using the button scanner, or the button on the program) of the slide, and continue onto the next one. Unfortunately, the scanner can only store 12 slide snapshots in its memory before it has to transfer them to the computer. When you copy over to the computer, the transfer rates are VERY slow. About 1 and a half minutes per each snapshot. The labeled "30 images per minute" is pure crap. If you can do up to 12, and then have to transfer, how could that be under a minute? On top of that, the file sizes were only 300kb(using normal quality). What took so long? I believe that you may as well just get a flatbed scanner with the slide attachment for it, because they both will take the same time and have the need for the flimsy slide/negative tray. Unless this product can be used with the driver and another program, I think it is a complete waste. The system it was running off of had:

CPU: Dual Core 1.7 GHz
Windows Vista Home Premium


The unit would never calibrate and slides were completely washed out and overexposed. The tips from customer service didn't help. The recommended an add in software, but the original scans were too overexposed to fix. I will look for something else.


I used this product to convert nearly 450 slides to CDs. It worked very well.


i like it! easy to use but the photo software that comes w/ it stinks! deleted it and used photo-shop ... but overall good value for the $$
